The hope and mystery of dark times

with Carina Lyall & Laura Storm

A 4 session inquiry and response to uncertainty, grief and urgency,

through story, stillness and shared reflections.

“It has always been a radical act to share stories during dark times. They are regenerative spaces of creation and renewal“.

Emmanuel Vaughn-Lee

WHAT changes in our work DURING TIMES OF UNCERTAINTY AND SENSE OF URGENCY? AT THE EDGE OF DARKNESS, IN THE SILENCE OF THE WINTER NIGHT?

HOW CAN WE NAVIGATE THIS REALM FROM A DEEPER PLACE WITHIN, RATHER THAN AN EXHAUSTING SEARCH FOR QUICK RESOLUTIONS AND FINAL ANSWERS. HOW CAN WE TRUST A DEEPER SENSE OF KNOWING THAT MOVES OUR ATTENTION AWAY FROM EFFICIENCy, NOISE AND OVERWHELM?

The demand for change is increasing and quickening. That embodied demand and urgency is also asking for different conversations and reflections.

We know that the dark months of the wheel can support our roots, and the surrender to that can be the nourishment we crave. That life lies in the surrender to the darkness. The curious inquiry into the dark months of the year.

We invite all who crave this curious exploration of life in the darkness to gather as kin around the virtual fire immersing ourselves in 4 deep inquiries and conversations about the less spoken sides of taking leadership for a new way of being on this earth.

We want to bring awareness, radical honesty, vulnerability and care to our work and these very real parts of the web of life.

We find it important to get comfortable navigating dark times to hold the pregnant tension of emergence

Themes that are given less space as we work hard for a new paradigm. Yet themes that may serve as a portal for exactly what we are eagerly searching for and working towards. We want to invite in a conversation around darkness as a foundation for life.

These sessions are not a space to submerge overselves in heavey grief and sorrow. But they are a space for us to acknowlegde, discuss, converse and

envision what else from here.

AS LEADERS, REGENERATIVE CULTURE SHIFTERS AND MAKERS, EARTH TENDERS AND HUMAN BEINGS, WE NEED SPACES TO GIVE VOICE TO THESE STIRRINGS.

4 INQUIRIES DURING THE DEEPEST DARKNESS OF WINTER

(DECEMBER - JANUARY)

In a format that allows for solo reflection, group reflection, poetry, music and storytelling we will explore 4 potent inquiries of our time.

FIRST SESSION: UNCERTAINTY IN URGENT TIMES

How do we respond to the sense of urgency we witness and feel in our bones, without burning out? Is certainty really what is needed in these times? How do we navigate the foggy liminal place between worlds without the need for a detailed map and instructions?

SECOND SESSION: NAVIGATING GRIEF

How can we be present with death, grief and darkness? How can we access deeper layers of the soil, the foundation for all life, the inner rich essence that catalyzes empowerment and transformation, while being with the grief and the darkness? How can we hold the rich opposites of life and death, light and darkness, grief as celebration? In what ways can we give space for the grief of what we witness happening to the Earth and still hold hope?

THIRD SESSION: SURRENDERING TO STILLNESS

What is offered when we give space to the vast stillnes of our world? When we create space without fixing, solving but just pure presence? When we allow the silence to not only bring answers but maybe offer even deeper questions? Or nothing? How can we be with the deep rich silence of nothing and explore that with presence and care - not rushed frustration?

FOURTH SESSION: BECOMING SOIL

What is this time and season really asking us to be or not to be? How can we become rich, nourished, still, winter soil? Could this time of year be the most powerful point of action?

These are some of the inquiries we will explore together. We will hold the space for solo and collective reflections.

Our intention

Our intention and hope and offer is to hold these complex themes together so we can give them the power and the care needed. Darkness is not to be feared - it’s often the entry into a deeper wisdom and a more empowered and inspired way forward.

Simple practices will be given as preparation for each session. This is not a course nor therapy. There will be no diploma or certificate at the end.
